NOTES FROM THE STEWARDS
TUESDAY 19TH JUNE, 2018.
STIPENDARY STEWARDS: RICHARD HALFHIDE TYRONE KOWLESSAR DAVID LOREGNARD
The Stewards interviewed apprentice Rico Hernandez rider of #7 MYSTERY MAN, unplaced, regarding his mount’s performance in the race. On being asked about the trainer’s instruction Apprentice Hernandez stated that he was to break well, stay on the pace and make his move from the 600 metre mark. The rider explained that his charge jumped well but then did not carry through and lost position. The Stewards noted that MYSTERY MAN made progress in the final 300 metres from off the pace. The comments were noted.
Apprentice O. Mohammed rider of #4 BLUE MOUNTAIN ROSE, unplaced, objected to the winner #5 LION’S PORTION, ridden by Tristan Phillips for crossing out of the gates. Having viewed the video replay and heard the riders’ evidence the Stewards found that LION’S PORTION first jumped outward and made contact with #6 RIVER SECRET then drifted inward. The incident may have been encouraged by #13 LOMBARD STREET which was drifting inward and caused tightening to horses on its inner. The Stewards were satisfied that the incident did not affect the eventual outcome and allowed the placings to remain unchanged.
Trainer Lester Alexis was fined $50.00 for incorrect colours on #14 SWEETMANINSOUTH.
Trainer Terrance Thomas was fined $500.00 for failing to present #18 IT’S ALL OVER for pre-raceday vet inspection.
Apprentice R. Balgobin rider of #7 MAGISTERIAL, unplaced, objected to #15 UNGUARDED MOMENT, unplaced, ridden by Apprentice T. Phillips for crossing approaching the first turn. Apprentice Phillips in turn objected to #16 MISCHIEF MAKER, also unplaced, for crossing at the same point. After viewing the video replays and hearing the riders’ evidence the Stewards noted that MAGISTERIAL checked sharply and apprentice Phillips admitted that his mount was lugging inward continually which may have contributed to the incident but claimed that he was pressured from the outside. The Stewards concluded that the tight riding around the bend to have been a factor and cautioned all jockeys to be more careful.

The Official Veterinarian reported that #11 CHICARITO was examined and had no visible lameness
Jockey B. Boodramsingh rider of #12 XANDER, unplaced, objected to #13 STAR OF WONDER, unplaced, ridden by apprentice K. Razack for crossing out of the gates. Having viewed the video replay and heard the riders’ evidence the Stewards found that both horses jumped awkwardly and made contact with each other. They saw no reason to take any action and allowed the placings to remain unaltered.
Trainer of #14 SCOTUS, Mr. Juan Mosca was fined $50.00 for delaying the start.
