SUBJECT: POLICY ON USE OF TURF (GRASS) TRACK FOR THE EXERCISING OF HORSES
DATE: MONDAY OCTOBER 1, 2012
The Arima Race Club wishes to inform all Trainers and Owners that at a meeting of the Management Committee on Thursday September 20, 2012 a policy for the use of the turf (grass) track for the exercising of horses was approved effective October 1, 2012 which is as follows:-
Weather permitting, the Club will allow the use of the turf (grass) track for the exercising of horses on Sundays from 8:00AM to 8:30AM, except in weeks where racing takes place on a Public Holiday.
Horses will be required to exercise using the middle to the outer section of the track and NO EXERCISING will be allowed from the inner rail to the middle of the track.
Failure to observe this policy will result in the Club conducting an inquiry into same and taking the appropriate action.
The Club expects the full cooperation of everyone.
Please be guided accordingly.

SUBJECT: RACE PROGRAMMES
Following repeated attempts to meet with the Trinidad & Tobago Racehorse Owners Association to discuss this and other matters of concern, the Arima Race Club have been unable to meet with the Association.
A letter dated July 25, 2012 addressed to the Secretary of the Trinidad & Tobago Racing Owners Association requesting a meeting was never acknowledged and phone calls made to the Secretary of the Association were never returned.
The Arima Race Club wishes to inform all Owners that effective from October 2012 the following with respect to the distribution of race programmes to Owners who have horses entered to race will be implemented:
• Four (4) or less horses entered – one (1) race programme
• Five (5) or more horses entered – two (2) race programmes
The ARC regrets having to execute this decision; however, due to the present finances of the Club, we have no choice but to reduce expenses in every way possible.
The ARC thanks you for your understanding and support. Please be guided accordingly.

SUBJECT : TRACK LEVY FEES
DATE : MONDAY 28TH JANUARY, 2013
By way of a letter from the Racehorse Owners Association dated October 14, 2012 in which they requested a meeting with the Club to discuss the Track Levy Fee, the ARC convened a meeting on November 15, 2012 with the Association.
At this meeting the ROA suggested that the Track Levy Fee be billed based on the usage of the track by a particular horse. This suggestion was tabled for discussion at a meeting of the Management Committee of the Club on November 22, 2012.
Following same the Committee decided that because of the difficulties associated with monitoring usage of the track by each horse, that the Track Levy Fee would remain a fixed fee for all horses that use the race tracks at Santa Rosa Park, however, it was agreed that Trainers would be billed at the end of the month.
Trainers are required to pay this fee at the end of each month. Further, Trainers who currently have outstanding balances for Track Levy fees are required, prior to February 28, 2013, to meet with the Club’s Financial Accountant, Ms. Sarah Ali, to make appropriate arrangements to have these outstanding fees paid within a reasonable timeframe.
Failure to do so will result in the Trainer not being issued a saddle cloth for the particular horse and as such, the horse will not be able to use the Club’s tracks.
We thank you for your understanding and look forward to your full cooperation.
Please be guided accordingly.

The Arima Race Club wishes to inform all our stakeholders and the public of the following:
The decision as to whether races scheduled for the Turf Track remain on the Turf Track or be moved to the Main Track is made on the morning of a race day.
Since some horses entered to race on the Turf Track may require the administration of Lasix at least 4 hours prior to post time of the particular race, a decision is made no later than 4 ½ hours prior to the post time of the first Turf race.
An ARC representative, the Consultant Steward and a representative each from the Jockeys and Trainers Association walk the Turf Track and examine it and after in consultation with each other will then decide if it is in the best interest of the jockeys and horses alike to keep those races scheduled for the Turf Track on the Turf Track or to have such races run on the Main Track.
After this has been done, their decision will be communicated via the CEO to the Stewards of the race day who will then make the final decision based on the information forwarded to them by the CEO and they will then advise racing officials and the public accordingly.
